Should a Christian celebrate Halloween?
Uncategorized October 30th, 2009I do not know or understand the full history of halloween, It is a good question one I would like to know the true answer to if there is one. But what I do know and see I will coment about. Halloween what comes to mind? when I go to stores look at the halloween costumes the decorations what comes to mind? Evil, Fear, Demonic It seams to promote the very opposite of God. So when you look at the Halloween atire it is a representation of what Halloween promotes and I dont think it promotes the Glory of God but just the opposite.
I think the history is good to know and be aware of but I think we as Christians can also use this holiday to reach out to others. Perhaps you and your kids can pray a blessing on every house you go to, or hand out gospel tracts as a treat from you whether they have candy or not, or have a fun costume party for some good fellowship. I don’t think we need to run or hide from this holiday as Christians, but rather seek to find a way to glorify God in this holiday.
This is an awesome topic. I just had a young lady at work discuss this with me about her concerns as a new parent and an existing Christian. I shared with her how we made a choice before we had children to not take part in any thing celebrating this day. At our churh we have some sort of drama around and on Halloween. It is an outreach to bring in those seeking some entertainment, but it holds the truth and there is an alter call open for those to accept HIM!! It is always very fruitful and exciting to see how we (Christians) can take something the devil has tried to claim and turn it into something powerful for God!!
I wanna hear your thoughts, if should a Christian celebrate Halloween?
